‘Da fidei quae fidei sunt’
When darkness looms at your door
And tries to pick at the lock,
When emptiness it fills your soul
And each demon throws a heavier rock.
When courage is but a memory
And hope a childish thought,
When fears become insistent
And help cannot be sought.
When the screaming gets more frequent
And the bells toll, call your name,
When the chills rip through your bones
And you feel like you’re going insane.
When you feel you’re at Hell’s mercy
And the shadows are drawing near,
When you feel like giving up
And you’d rather end it here.
Hold on tight and don’t give up
For there’s a few things that I learned:
The sun always comes after the rain;
The tables all get the chance to be turned.
Good always overcomes evil,
Experience is always a prize,
Trials they help us grow stronger,
Tests help us to become gentle and wise.
And lies they teach us discernment
And greed shows us how to give,
And all that was meant to cause us harm
Helps us to challenge, amend, truly live.
And if we have faith just a little,
And if we just trust for one day,
And if we forgive and show grace
Peace will find us come what may.
