In search of hope, I travelled
over land and over sea – mountains
high, valleys deep, further than
the eye could see. I met so many
people; we talked and talked
and talked. We shared food, we
shared our hearts – we sat;
often, we walked. We listened
with loving kindness to each other’s
fears, concerns. We listened to
each other’s experiences and stories,
aware we all needed to learn –
How to mindfully ask our questions,
speak truth to power with one voice.
How to express clearly the rudimentals,
people face who have not choice.
We reimagined life and living –
Dreamt of a more equal and
inclusive society. We put forth
our proposals – regarding collaborative
community. Education shared all of
its concerns; re-education stated its case.
So too did sustainable development.
Micro finance spoke with wisdom, grace.
The arts welcomed our endeavours,
where in this new world they would fit,
their concern being the lack of man’s
aspirations and not letting apathy
renew its grip. It was then
that innovation revealed its
hand. Motivation was given the floor.
Inspiration gave a holistic view. Efficiency
vowed that it would do more –
Discord promised to back off; fear
agreed to bow out. Anger said
it would hang up its gloves –
Disease packed its case and
And life, it gave the biggest cheer
as hope came into view. Harmonious
cohabitation, now more than a dream:
it is the means, and the end too.
