The One

The One

I opened the door to find you

there, all bright eyed and bushy tailed.

You were positively glowing, expectant ̶

eager to share, your wares with me.

How could I resist you? I could not resist you,

it was impossible. That smile. That smile

took my very breath away and that Hello.

That Hello was the very Hello, which I had

waited for my entire life to hear. I loved

you the moment I saw…you. I knew that we

could build, a life, together.

A wonderful life together. You were unfamiliarly

familiar, the consequence perhaps, of a choice

unknown and yet…

Different.

Somehow you were different to all those others,

who had stood at my door, before you. And I loved

you. I knew I would always, forever love you ̶

For here you are my another day,

my someday…Right on time, right

on time, right on Time.

Here you are my fresh white canvas ̶

My crisp white page. My possibility. My wish

about to be fulfilled…

My hope soon to be realised.

2018 reasons to dance. 2018 opportunities to try

one more time… 2018 stories to be told. 2018 dreams

to dream. 2018 mysteries to solve. 2018 chances

to #BeTheChange. 2018 bone of my bone,

flesh of my flesh, blood of my blood ̶

You are already my kind of Beautiful. The One…

Happy New Year

May this be the year we learn to love as we are loved.

The year we treat one another how we ourselves want to be treated.

The year equality, justice and freedom become a reality for all people.

The year we start to care for our beautiful planet, in the same way it cares for us.

And from this day onward may we always and forever, cherish and protect…

this thing called life

This thing called Life.

Freedom is… being dressed like a beggar and feeling

like a King. It is eating the scraps that someone else threw away

and feeling blessed, sustained. It is about looking at the sky and

understanding that there is no greater roof

over our head. It is about joining in with the conversation of life,

spoken by the grass, the wind, the trees, the birds, the bees.

Freedom.

It is that place within our heart where we learn to

love…ourselves…others…another.

That place where dreams are crafted, visions

perceived, talents enabled, the course set. That place

where we discover that we were enough, more

than enough all along, we simply had to…believe. Freedom.

It is that mystery, that magic that lies beyond

our garden wall, beyond our fences, through our woods,

passed our limitations, down the road from our fears.

Freedom.

Found under our star…our star that beckons us to wander,

so we may yet be begin to breathe…begin to embrace

this thing called Life
